Anyone vermicomposting in Louisiana?
Is anyone in Louisiana vermicomposting?? I have been interested in this recently and I stopped by the LSU Ag County Extention and the agent said he didn't know anyone in this area but that he would get back in touch with me. Well he called back and said that his contact at the main office said he only knew of 1 PERSON in Louisiana that is doing this!!
Ummmm- is anyone else doing this???? Is it too hot here?? Don't want to start something that may have a bad ending- like frying a bunch of wormies!

If no answers from your state thats ok you can still be very successful, try redwormcomposting.com. It's very extensive, or if you'd rather have a book, try Worms Eat My Garbage, by Mary Appelhof it is a step by step easy and friendly read. On this forum you can go to the white search box and look at Wiggler Hilton or 1,000 Worms...
That will keep you busy for awhile.

Re: Anyone vermicomposting in Louisiana?
Thanks for the link! I have been reading about the Wiggler Hilton (and every other link I can find!) and have found it extremely interesting and helpful!
I'm the kind that likes to learn all about something before I jump into it, if I can learn from someone else's mistakes that is one less that I have to make (I make plenty anyway! ).

Worms don't really care what state they live in. Just figure a place that won't be too hot, with some shade, especially if using a plastic bin. Maybe on the porch, in the garage, well house, etc.
