I am fairly new to kale and mostly only add it to my green smoothies. I've only tried cooking it once and it wasn't love at first bite. I didn't do anything fancy to it...just cooked it up with a little water to steam it. I'd love to hear what you folks do to your kale to make it taste like more.

I didn't plant Kale because I have never tasted it but at my health food store I bought a bunch and made baked kale chips.
1 bunch kale
1Tbl olive oil
1 tsp sea salt
350 oven. Line a non insulated cookie sheet with parchment paper.
With knife or shears carefully remove leaves from thick stem and tear into bite size pieces.
Wash and dry thoroughly
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt
Bake til edges brown but not burnt . 10-15 minutes.

They were good Hot out of oven but the longer they sat they became chewy. If you are going to eat immediately they were good!

I cut the leaves into ribbons and saute in olive oil and garlic.

ditto to both above ideas. We often make kale chips. luckily, we haven't found them to become soggy/chewy with time. We also love to saute it in garlic and olive oil. I've also done them like collard greens, allowing them to cook for a while. I have also made vegetarian stew with them. I have yet to find a kale recipe I don't like!

I agree, summer Kale can need some extra cooking time. But once a frost hits them, they produce more sugars and stay tender longer. Frost touched kale and collards are the best.
