Hi, where can I buy organic vegetable plants? I live in Baltimore. I know MOM's carries plants, but they only sell them for 2 more weeks.

Thanks =)

You can find organic plants at most nurseries and big box stores, they just cost a little extra. Do you start your own seeds? It could save you some money if you bought organic seeds a started them yourself!

I have tried every major nursery! lowes, homedepot, watson's, valleyview farms, no-one sells organic plants only seed. i'm just starting my garden so i haven't done seeds yet and i read in mel's book that some things like broccoli take a long time. (which i don't have because i didn't start my seed early enough =)

Well, if you can't find organic you could always go with non organic. I have both (I like sales:P ). It's better than nothing! Broccoli doesn't take too long, approx. 60ish days Very Happy . Or you could order online but if you go that route you'll have to do it quick because a lot of nurseries are almost done with their spring shipping!

Check out the Food Co-ops and Organic food stores. They often have plants for sale at this time of year.
I have never seen organic plants at Lowes etc, just not their mindset yet. But the more we ask the more they will have.

Do you have any organic farmer's markets in the area? Start there.
I know that I am so lucky/blessed to have an organic farm right smack in my city. On Friday afternoon & Saturday mornings, all year, they have their farm market. This weekend they'll be starting their annual seedling sale.
Maybe check Freecycle or Craig's list, or your local freebie paper. Does your local newspaper have a garden section? If so,ask the editor for leads.
Good luck. And, if you can't find organic, ask at the nursery what they fertilize with. I've been told, "we don't have certified organic, but we also don't use chemical fertilizers, and what really matters is what you do, once the plants are in your garden." Then start seeds next year, for those longer crops like broccoli and tomatoes.
