Peaved Peas
1st year SFG here.
I've got four peas growing in one square, and they've been looking quite healthy until recently. They are still getting taller, and even have flowers on them, but the lower leaves and stems have been looking more and more pale.
Is this something I should be concerned about, or is this normal for peas?
We have had some cooler weather in the last week or so, maybe they just don't like the cold snap?

Re: Peaved Peas
Many crops will yellow their bottom-most leaves as they continue to grow. I wouldn't worry at this point. Just pinch them off.

Re: Peaved Peas
I agree with Quiltbea! My peas did the same thing last year. I think it's just natural as the plant continues to put energy upward and outward.
Re: Peaved Peas
Peas like cold weather. They will come up in the snow. They will take off directly, and grow very tall. The sm. amt of browning is no problem.

Re: Peaved Peas
I agree with above posts.
BTW - look how much room is in that square! Try eight per square next time for twice as many peas in the same amount of space!
