Best flowers for hot weather
I am living in East Texas and thinking of growing flowers in some boxes with veggies and in containers. Any experience planting them? Good ones and bad that won't get burnt up in a couple of months if I sprout them now?
Thanks!

Best thing to do is find things that will be drought-tolerant, since droughts often mean high temperatures, too!
NC State University created this list of drought-tolerant annuals: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/quickref/flowers/annuals-drought.html
Here's NCSU's list of drought-tolerant perennials: http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consumer/quickref/flowers/perennials_drought.htm

I've had good luck with Moss Rose (portulaca)sp and Mexican Heather in the south facing deck pots. Moss rose reseeds as well. I have hundreds sprouting in the deck pots right now. I picked up African Daisy seeds to try this year.

marigolds and zinnias do really well for me. They lasted through the 100 plus days we had last summer.

Marigolds, zinnias, celosias, spider flowers(cleomes), and snapdragons work well for me.
