First year of SFG(s) 22-1/2" tall
Our 11" deep carrot box:
The top two side by side boxes are 6" deep. The bottom left box is 11" deep for carrots.
This is our first year of SFG and admittedly I was bitten by the bug. We positioned the boxes in several places before we decided on this final resting place. We had them in the yard initially but decided against that because of added mowing and trimming work around the boxes. Therefore we decided to put them in an unused portion of the drive so we would have less maintenance and they would be closer to the house.
We used 1/2" square galvanized hardware cloth for false bottoms then covered that with landscape fabric to retain the Mel's mix. The final height of the boxes are 22-1/2" high. As we age we disliked having to bend over to tend and harvest our garden so hopefully this will reduce the bending over issues we have had with previous gardens. We used 3/4" thick composite deck boards so these should last a good many years with no maintenance.

Things are looking FABULOUS! Have you thought about putting wheels on the bottom in the event you change your mind about positioning the boxes?

I love that you used the composite decking. If I make any boxes, then I would like to use that material. What are reinforcing the corners? Rebar?
Your boxes will certainly add green to that area of your drive.

Camprn. Great idea about using wheels. I will keep that in mind if we decide to move them to another location.

I did not use any reinforcement at the corners. I just used four 2" coated deck screws directly into the ends of the each plank. It is really rigid so I hope I will not need any thing else (keeping fingers crossed). I did add short sections of vertically mounted 1" PVC pipe tubes to the inside corners so I can insert 1/2" CPVC pipe into them for a mini hoop house, if I need protection from the elements or from critters.

Are you concerned at all about sun/shade being they are close to the house? I am trying to decide where to put boxes but am limited by the areas of my yard that have 6-8 hours of sunshine.

I am but hopeful this will provide adequate light. The top of the pictures is North exposure and the right side is East exposure. The area gets full sun from 8Am-ish until 3PM-ish which should be at least 6 hours of full sun. Time will tell but we are hopeful this will work???

At least the house will cut the killing west heat. Some of my best tomatos had some afternoon shade, especially during the 90-100* days

Your plan sounds good. Some afternoon shade will probably be a good thing if we have a hot summer. Now I am re-thinking that maybe I'll put mine a little bit closer to the trees for pm shade.
