Anyone in Guam?
My husband and I have just relocated to Guam. I have been wanting to start a veggie garden for a few years now and never was able. Now it looks like we can finally do it. I am looking for guidance on what I might be able to grow here. I don't think I will be able to build the boxes - will probably have to do containers... but hopefully that won't be a problem.

Welcome. Too bad you didn't know more about SFG before your move. You could have put vermiculite and peat in your HHE. But check out coir. It might be available locally - not as good as peat, but very acceptable. Pearlite may be more available than vermiculate. Again, acceptable.
I answered your other post as well.

you can get vermiculite at Home Depot, though the people working there often don't know that. Peat is available, but compost is a non-starter, have to find a close match and start your own. Every leaf, bit of grass and kitchen veggie waste goes in mine. It takes a while to start, but it is really going now.

Hi Scott! I see you found the forum....
Did Juli tell you I found steer compost and chicken compost at the NEX Garden Center? At least - it was there a week or so ago.... Who knows if it is still there....

From one who learned the hard way, if you see anything at the NEX you think you might need, get it then. It will not be there next trip and will not be restocked.

Re: Anyone in Guam?
Actually - we stopped by there today to get some other stuff and they indeed did still have it - outside, over by where the live plants are.... Two pallets - one of each - quite a lot on each pallet still. Something tells me that composted chicken poo isn't in super high demand by the average family around here.... LOL Of course - that's where the "won't be reordered for a long time" comes into play, I suppose.
