Shout out from McMinnville OR
Hello from McMinnville, OR. I bought the SFG book a little over a week ago at Lowe's and man, was this a great investment. I currently have, oh... I don't know, maybe 6 or 7 gardening books on my book shelf. I had seen the SFG web page last summer and my interest was peaked. Now that I found the book, I am once again, charged up about gardening. Everything that Mel writes makes so much more sense! I am not sorry that I bought the other gardening books, but alas, now I look upon them as a waste. I will donate them maybe to the library or send them off to the good will.
Thanks so much to Mel for showing us, or at least me, the light! Hurry up Spring! I cannot wait for my harvest!!

copgrrl1999 from another SFGner in Oregon. Very glad to have you join us. The ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING BOOK is a great read isn't it? And, it is really simple to understand the concept. Love it. As nKedrOoStEr said, be sure to read the thread about Mel's Mix. It will help you create the best SFG ever.
To be honest, I would not get rid of the other gardening books, because they each have something to contribute, but you have to disregard a few things like spacing and amending soil and double digging and all the hard stuff.
Looking forward to hearing how your garden progresses.

Welcome copgrrl1999. I grew up in Salem back in the day, but live in Vancouver Washington these days. I agree with our two experts above. First, nKedrOoStEr makes a good point, suggesting you study up on Mel's Mix as it's the most important part of the process. Having read and re-read the entire book, I would suggest to do the same as there's always little tid-bits you will pick up on the next time.
Second, furbalsmom has a great suggestion too, and this is hang onto those other books. Gardening is a wonderful past time and hobby. There will be many times when you'll wish you had another reference and those books will serve that purpose. Of course, between the ANSFG book and this forum, the other books may need dusting off when you do use them, but I think, or agree that you should hang onto them.
