Howdy from Texas
Hi All,
I was researching raised beds and, luckily, found this site. It looks like there is a lot of good information here from friendly people who like to share.
Regards,
WB

Hoila Wolfbane! Where in NCTx do you hail from? There a quite a few square foot'ers in the N. Dallas suburbs - Plano, Frisco, etc.
Welcome to the site. If you haven't already Mel's book then I recommend starting there and then ask others on this site. I am starting my second year and have learned a ton from the folks here. Planting time is right around the corner here. I have already jumped the gun a bit and planted a bunch of stuff! I may get burned, but if we keep up the mild winter, I am going to be way, way ahead on lettuces and the like! Swing by the lower south and middle south regional forums for more info specific to our areas!

Hey WB. Welcome!
You'll find that "raised beds" are a great way to garden, but Square Foot Gardening is even better.
If there are some specific questions you have, don't forget to check out the Search feature to the upper left (LOL I'm mildly dyslexic and have to stop and think every time) to see if that helps. But join in the conversation and let us know how we can help.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

I am in Arlington and have a very good friend up in Frisco. I love your avatar. I love KoTH.
I haven't read the book but I'll probably order it since it looks like it will have a lot of good information.
Thanks for the warm welcome, everybody.

Re: Howdy from Texas
I was just in Texas for a meeting (Dallas) and I could not help but wonder, every time I was outside, "I wonder what you can plant here now?" And I never look at homes for sale (and I am not even in the market at the moment) without qualifying it by whether it has a good enough southern exposure. LOL.
