Better Late then Never?
I'm a few weeks behind but I finally got my boxes built!! I'm so proud of my self. I did it all by myself; learning how to use a power tool and all to put my boxes together. Mixing MM together by yourself is rough work.... I can't believe I did it! I'm convinced that compacted peat moss is the handy work of the devil.... it refused to come out of the bag. I'll be planting all my starts outside tomorrow after I get my grid put together and on the boxes!
I just had to share. :o)
Ohhh and my enthusiasm is already rubbing off on some friends who are thinking about starting some sfgs!

That's awesome! You're one step ahead of me, I still have to fill my boxes. Let us know how the planting goes... and post some pics for us to see.

cache......
You have time since you're in Maine.
I finally got my boxes filled the end of April 2009, my first year. I bought store-bought seedlings except for those that I could safely start from seeds right in the boxes. The late start wasn't going to deter me from being an SFG'r.
Enjoy yourself.

Very impressed! I couldn't figure out how to change the drill bit in my husband's drill the other day, so my hoop houses are held together with string for now.

Good for you! I know just how you feel. I made all my boxes myself too, no help from the man of the house. I feel very proud of myself. Now I am planting them and it is so fun.

Re: Better Late then Never?
Thanks everyone! I'll post pictures soon. I took some as I was building but haven't taken any of the boxes yet.
I don't know if they are all the same or not but I think they are. My explanation is going to be horrible but right at the base where the bit goes in, the thing holding it, twists. So you go one way to make it lose and release, another to tighten and hold in place. I found this out by surprise, lol. Right after I put my first box together I kept saying I should have taken woodshop in high school, I would have rocked that classes socks off! :oD

"I'm convinced that compacted peat moss is the handy work of the devil.." It is, it is. I did not have a proper dust mask so tried using a bandana, then a bandana with a coffee filter underneath still I must have breathed in a far bit as the inside of my nostrels were black.
