My husky cherry tomato plant is growing a lot bigger and spreading out of my porch planter. We decided to try supporting it with twine. Is this okay, or will the strings 'saw' the vines and damage them? Should I try staking instead?

Keep winding the new growth around the twine to encourage straight growth of the vine, this should provide a bit more support for the plant. Depending on how heavy the plants are getting you may wish to add more twine. Looks great!
