What are Hawaii folks harvesting?
Some sugar snap peas, lots and lots and lots of Emerite and Manoa beans, always so much lettuce that we are selling it to the neighbors. Abundanza!!

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Yesterday I made up a quart of chicken stock based soup with bits of the stripped of chicken carcass flesh
I added two browned fried fine chopped onions to it & two 4 ounce , browned fried potatoes that I'd chopped into 1/4 " cubes plus most of two of the remaining dozen or so leeks left in the ANSFG leek bed .
I pressure cooked it all with some salt & seasonings for 18 min . let it de pressure naturally. Then took out 1/3 of it , whizzed up the rest to a consistent lump free liquid . Added what I'd set aside , chopped the remaining dark green leaves from the two leeks , added a grab of fresh chopped fine parsley & brought it back to the boil for three minutes .
The resulting lumpy leek & potato with bits of chicken flesh soup was great.
Today I has SOS ( Same Old Soup ) reheated & boiled for two minutes. It had improved ..... it was fantastic .

As I pass by the last year's kale and collard plants I am picking off the flower buds, including the top most leaves and stems, and munching on them.. Pure Heaven!

Bought 6 Napa (Chinese) cabbage seedlings at the local nursery - never tried to raise it before - huge plants formed but just noticed that they were bolting. Yesterday I cut one, shredded it, and decided to boil it with some ham - what a wonderful surprise!!
No bitterness and so very tasty!! This fall will see my planting more from my own started seeds!!

Napa cabbage is one of my fall favorites, although it's hard to get my timing right. I usually plant too early or too late, even when I stagger them. Napa cabbage is very cold hearty. I have harvested mine in the freezing rain.Judy McConnell wrote:Bought 6 Napa (Chinese) cabbage seedlings at the local nursery - never tried to raise it before - huge plants formed but just noticed that they were bolting. You can just remove some of the outer frozen leaves and they are still fresh on the inside.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Yesterday, I enjoyed my first 2017 serving of asparagus. Home-grown rosemary (now dried and dead?) adorned a roast chicken.

My goodness, I had no idea how versatile sorrel is. I copied some of the recipes to a Word doc to consider at a future time, not having sorrel in the garden right now but i will order seeds.
Who knew? as they say.
