LOL, I was working in Minnesota. Even though I grew up there, I gained a new appreciation for the North wind in winter channeling between the downtown twin cities street when I stepped out of my hotel and got hit by the wind.
No worries, I know how to dress, layered, windbreaking outer layer, insulated leather gloves, insulated long johns under my suit pants. Only problem was was the temp change and wind made my eyes water, without thinking I flipped my sunglasses up and wiped my eye and froze my glove to my eyelashes and eyelid before I could pull my hand away and had to pivot back into the hotel to thaw.

NSR, Now that is a cold snow story I have never heard before. It's right up there with licking the lamp post. I know it wasn't funny at the time. . .
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It is still warm enough for butterflies in our garden. Saw a painted lady and a white cabbage butterfly today. Currently 20C (68F) ... perfect gardening weather.

5:30 AM. Santa Ana winds are on full howl. The door to the garage rattles with the gusts due to the pressure changes of the vents and flood grates. Sun isn't up, current temp on outside thermometer 94 degrees, temp yesterday morning at this time, 58.
It's going to cook today.

It was still warm and humid enough for me to work outside in shorts and t-shirt. Unreal for October 24th. We go back to seasonal temperatures tomorrow.

Weird
High of 100 here today. I can't believe it's almost to November and still this hot. It'll be time and still hot at this rate!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Reasonable/seasonable weather here. Cool, gloomy, sometimes frost overnight, sometimes not. I've been making good progress on clean-up and winter garden set up. But the frost warning tonight turned into a freeze warning and I didn't see it until after dark! I harvested a few things, draped most of my beds (thanks for your help, headlamp!) with Agribon row cover, and covered a few more squares with upside-down salvaged plastic fridge drawers.

Yeah, we had a freeze last night, 32*F. Not frost...will see what happened. Only things out still are a few peppers and Swiss chard, peppers.
Cold again tonight. 30s. 50s day. Normal.

Finally cooling off
92 in the back yard, 86 in the front today. I'm using my wet suit in the pool, because pool temps are always closer to overnight lows than day time highs. Overnight low last night in the back: 55 degrees.

We've had the a/c on for several days and will probably need it again, today.

Back to really wet conditions here in Ottawa. Reminds of what it was like in the early Summer ... rain, rain, rain. With the steady rain today and tomorrow it looks like we are going to set a new annual rainfall record by the time it is over. This would have to happen right after I planted my garlic.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Thanks sr!
Our weather here swings so much. Last night it was 29 for 5 hours. Today our high was 60. (That is Fahrenheit) Tonight we are to be 40 with tomorrow being 50. We could still be growing outside if it wasn't for the nights with frost!
