Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Actually, the level with the orange tree is another 8-10' lower than the pool level with another staircase down. It just doesn't show up that way in the photo. I found some wedding photos to put it in better perspective. That tree on the right in the first shot is the one that's completely surrounded by water, now. The shot of the bride shows how high the wall is up to the pool area.BeetlesPerSqFt wrote:Yikes, Suz! My first thought, before I read anything, was "Why did they put the pool so close to the river?"

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
So much wind and rain it washed out our main road to civilization. We can no longer get to grocery store, bank, beauty shop, drugstore or favorite nursery without driving at least 5 miles out of our way. They can't even think about fixing the damage until the weather clears up. After that, it could be 2-3 MONTHS! At first they said no mail, UPS, FedEx etc, since the only people getting through are folks who live here, but I guess too many people complained, so they lifted that ban. We'll see about garbage pickup, tomorrow. The big broken pipe in the pic has been repaired. That was the water pipe for our whole area. This news pic was taken waking distance from our house.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Oh no! I had to drive 5 mi out of the way to get to work, for a few days once, and hated it. Sure hope they fix your road a lot sooner than 2 mths!

I got at least 6" of snow, probably closer to 8". But I've got power, and water ... and I still have a road, albeit a somewhat slippery one.
I hope they can get that fixed ahead of schedule for you, Suz!

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
We'll be pushing 70!! here today Cold, and possible freezing rain and snow over the weekend
I like the unseasonably warm weather, but it's a bit rough on our animals going from warm to cold. My garden can't figure out what's going on either. I went out yesterday and cut back some hop bines and notices some of my rhizomes budding! Way to early!
I forgot to snap a photo for our Feb avatar theme...

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Thanks for the sympathy, CC & Beetles, but the news is NOT good. Yesterday we had another downpour that dropped almost 2" in a very short time, right on top of us. That had to make things even worse. Now we're scheduled for another 5 days of rain for next week, so I doubt if they're even thinking about starting this repair project any time soon.

Other news from our area: Oroville Dam spillway sprung a hole during all the rain.

Here's an update on the in-laws yard. Today has been unexpectedly nice, so here's the before and after shot. The geese weren't invited to the wedding, but they love the new "spillway."
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
lets see. 20cm of snow today. 25 coming monday and maybe 15 on Wednesday. I guess I should not have bothered putting plastic over my bed.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Today and the next 3 should be great, then 6 more days of rain at least.
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
It's cooling off a bit here in Central Oregon, with light snow possible late next week.
Although there's been significant melt, there's still snow on the ground.
Does anyone know anything about snow mold? Now that I can see part of my lawn, I see that it's been infested.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
I dont know anything about snow mold but we live in a very moldy place down here in the steam bath of the 3rd coast. It can be very bothersome ugly and a health threat. Do research and find sprays at the garden center I recommend that. I do NOT recommend ya mix bleach a lil soap and water to form a spray in a garden sprayer. But das what I do
Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Cappy,
I wouldn't use bleach on anything in my yard, other than perhaps a garbage can. Thanks for responding, though.
I know quite a lot about mold in general, but not whether this specific type is particularly hazardous. I'm particularly concerned about the cats--when they go outside again--licking contaminated paws.

Re: How's the Weather Where You're At?
Rooster, please stop sending Colorado lows up to Canada.
From Environment Canada for my area: "A developing Colorado low is expected to track south of the lower Great Lakes and bring snow to eastern Ontario for Sunday. Although there is still some uncertainty with respect to the track of the low, current information suggests total snow fall amounts of 20 to 25 cm are likely by Monday morning."
