Hi, old gardener moving to a new zone - I've gardened in Florida for many years; but we are moving to Wyoming, Zone 4b - riddled with mule dear and rabbits - which I find AMAZING to see - but will need lots of advise on what will grow, survive winter, not get eaten by something before I get a nibble - etc., I will be building a greenhouse!
Looking forward to following topics and gaining advice from other gardeners in the Zone 4b area

Krittergardener! I'm in Northern CA on an animal sanctuary, so I understand about critters. Most of ours were invited, but we do have a couple of skunks and a couple of raccoons that crashed the party.
We also have a greenhouse, but it's just a little 6x6 which doubles as a butterfly house in the summer.
I look forward to your posts and pics.

Kritter, Welcome to the Forum from California! Your Regional Host, Turan, has quite a garden. She has SFG beds inside a green house and a large area when she grows a lot of summer vegetables. I think the general rule of thumb is to put 2' wide beds around the perimeters and some other SFG beds down the middle row. Allow 3' for the isles. The green house being a structure, there will be overhead supports for trellises and string supports.

Mule deer? I don't know what that is but it sounds like good manure for the compost pile.
Welcome to the forum! Lots the Florida transplants here so we know what you're going through. Have a ball and don't be afraid to ask questions.

from Kelejan in British Columbia.
Here in Canada most of our gardens will be sleeping for the winter so we rely on our southern neighbours to keep us supplied with pictures of greenery etc.
Look forward to reading about your progress.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

Hi Kritter, welcome to the high plains and mountains! I am north of you near Bozeman Montana. Are you ready for this cold snap coming? I see we are both predicted to go in single digits below zero.
You are welcome to ask me anything and I will do my best to help. Over in the WM & HP regional forum there are threads about gardening in this area. John is south of you in Colorado. We both have greenhouses. I will be updating my garden thread from this year soon. I took pictures and never got around to posting, xmas break will be a good time to do so.
