stringing bell peppers, egg plant, and tomatoes
has anyone use the vertical string method on peppers and eggplants? If so , do you have pictures of how to do it?

Re: stringing bell peppers, egg plant, and tomatoes
I like that guy Tyler...he did really well on that interview with John.
I bought some rebar the other day and it was $1.69 per 2 foot lengths. Also, I use plastic elbows as opposed to the metal ones. The plastic ones go inside the conduit rather than over the outside, and cost about $0.25 to $0.50 depending on the shape you buy.
I have never strung any of my veggies yet. Nor have I put peppers or eggplant on my trellises. Altho I have corralled peppers with chicken wire and bungee cords.

Re: stringing bell peppers, egg plant, and tomatoes
I did an overhead trellis for my tomatoes several years ago. Find video on how to trellis in a greenhouse or high tunnel. I'll take a peek to see if I can find some info for you.

In regards to pepper and eggplants (aubergine), I've found that simply staking them is all that is needed, even if the terminal tips have been removed and the plant has bushed out well and laden with heavy fruit.

Re: stringing bell peppers, egg plant, and tomatoes
Thanks. Yes inexpensive. Half inch galvanized electrical conduit, the Elbows, strapping and sisal twine. Cheap. I had the system set up for few years and then switched to a Florida weave system. Which is much less likely to girdle the plants and I can now get to both sides of the plants because they basically grow as a wall.has55 wrote:+1,+1,+1countrynaturals wrote:Beautiful!

There is stone under the beds because there is a slight grade. Boxes are on a hill.

Camp, Are those wood slats going between the EMCs? How clever you are! I have to try them next spring!
Re: stringing bell peppers, egg plant, and tomatoes
Last summer, tomatoes in buckets supported from over head.
This year in new table top.
Closeup of stretchy tape. A few suckers will also get their own tape. I'm already visualizing adding wood slats next summer, like in Camp's photo!
