Bell peppers in a pot

Hi
I am growing bell (sweet) peppers in pots indoors. I've been pollinating the flowers by hand and have a good number of fruit setting now. Should I limit the fruit per plant? Should I cut the growing tips off or just stop pollinating? I keep thinking, more, more, more but perhaps I'll end up with lots of small unripe peppers that way?

Good for you, getting them to fruit indoors!

It is sort of up to you. Bell peppers can handle a lot of fruit. If the plant does not grow fast enough for the peppers to have room, like, in between branches, then you may have to eat a few early, but are edible at any stage. Also, you can always pollinate some more as time goes on, rather then do it all at once. The plants will also need some fertilizer to keep up. Peppers will live for 2 to 3 years if you can care for them.

Thanks Jo. I'll settle down and read that link properly... though if I had read it first I would probably given up straight away! I used peat-based potting compost and all my seeds germinated Laughing

I've started to feed the plants with a liquid 10-15-10 feed so I'll carry on with that. They take a lot of watering though!

I read that about the peat also! I think it depends on the seed and on the person. Peat requires a lot of water to just get it wet. We know that from using the Mel's mix, but the peppers seem to love it. Jo
