Howdy back at ya!
I like your sig. If it's referring to SFG, it's spot on!
Are thinking about trying SFG, or are you already doing it?

Welcome from the cold state of Maine.
The first year is a learning curve for all of us. You need to grow things you really like and then follow instructions in the SFG book about when to start seeds, or transplant, or direct seed. Its all very helpful.
If you start too late in the season to start your own seeds indoors, there's plenty of greenhouses that sell transplants and the big box stores as well.
If you have questions, you can ask them here. Lots of gardeners available to help you. Good luck.

Thanks
I went 60 miles to a big box to get my wood. I went 150 to get my vermiculite and peat moss. I was all set to start building my 4 boxes at first light, about 7am. The storm started about 3 and lasted off and on for 4 days. Since I retired, I have ALOT more time than money so almost free groceries seems like a good idea. I should spend less on the garden in a year than I do at the store.

Howdy, gewanew! I'm one of your KS neighbors, a little farther east in the Flint Hills. Hope you got some of that lovely rain that came across the state last week.

Yes Kate, we got rain!
And thunder and lightning and wind. Chicago has nothing on Hill City for wind. I spent time during the storms figuring how to convert SFG spacing to fit some of the buckets I have left from hydroponics. (Round Foot Gardening?) There are bunches of experiments that I want to try and will use SFG boxes as my control group. I saw a video of Mel growing potatoes in a bucket. That is part of what gave me some of the ideas. I'll post pictures as I go along. I have to get the basic SFG's set up. I get 2 boxes and the wife gets 2. Thanks for the welcome, y'all. The rest of the forum is calling me.

Welcome from a fellow Kansan! Your climate is very tricky; have to contend with the wind and dry, hot summers. At least here in the northeast part of KS we have some trees to break down some of that wind and give us some shade. Have you got anything in the ground yet?

Gewanew, Quite a few of us have sfg boxes and buckets. I love the buckets for tomatoes and little red potatoes.

You may not have much to say now, but look where I have got to with the number of posts, and I thought I was a quiet soul.

Finally got a box done
Yesterday we finally got a day with no wind, no rain, no frost, so I spent the morning mixing ingredients an putting it in a box. So the garden is finally started. 4 'maters got installed. Supposed to storm today, so we'll see if they are gonna last.
