Sauteed w/ oil and garlic! Raw chard tastes like soap to me.

Me, hand full of sugar snaps dipped in some garlicky hummus!
Love me some garlicky hummus. Can of chick peas, SFG garlic, cumin... whirl in the blender and we're good to go! Also great using cannellini or black beans.

Sugar snaps
I have a 7 ft trellis with sugar snaps and cant walk past them without snacking on them. I haven't grown them in awhile and had forgotten how sweet they were.Scorpio Rising wrote:Tokyo cross turnips and various leaves! Kale, chard, and bolting Black Seeded Simpson lettuce! I meet my sister for lunch every Wednesday. (Free pie day at a local restaurant). I try to share something from the garden and she really enjoys it.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
That's what I do, too. I plant sugar snap peas in all of my beds, just for snacking, but, sadly, mine are long gone for this season.MrBooker wrote:I have a 7 ft trellis with sugar snaps and cant walk past them without snacking on them. Harvested more radishes today and found an easy recipe for "roasted radishes". I cooked them up while Mrs TD made the rest of the evening meal. They were very good and did not even taste like radishes.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
We have been eating tomatoes, strawberry spinach, and edible violas from the outside SFG with our salad most nights.
I also purchased an indoor garden while in Japan called a "Green Farm". That gives us lettuce and beet leaves. A while ago we ate radishes and daikon that were in the Green Farm.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Here is the website that describes my indoor garden.
http://www.japantrendshop.com/uing-green-farm-hydroponic-grow-box-p-2929.html
I now have 3 units. When I am able to download my setup you will get pictures of mine.
I buy them when in Japan, they are cheaper there. The carton becomes a piece of luggage.

For dinner tonight - sliced tomatoes, carrots I pressure canned last fall and baked potatoes I harvested a couple hours before dinner. Best potato I have ever eaten.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Tuesday - curly endive in a salad
Wednesday - Beets, with their greens, and the stems chopped fine. Not very big beets, but there were actually beets this time! I left some behind to see if they'll get bigger.
Thursday - arugula (on wraps w/smoked trout)
Friday - brought a big bowl of lettuce-based salad to a party
Today - mache tucked into the breakfast quesadillas; mustard greens with garlic scapes at lunch; and a bolted leek, cilantro, and garland chrysanthemum greens went into dinner.

Maybe I will have a rabbit-cabbage stew for dinner. Just kidding. There was a rabbit munching on one of my cabbage plants this morning.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
We harvested out our snow pea plants last week and have been enjoying some stir-fry over the weekend. I just at some left overs. Also using our lettuce for a salad and/or sandwich or wrap at lunch time almost every day too. We blend spinach with some frozen fruit for some yummy smoothies most days.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
This morning I picked Cherry and Regular Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Jalapenos, and Banana Peppers. The Bell peppers and Eggplant need a few more days and the Basil is almost ready to pick.
I need to plant some more Cucumber plants to keep my production going.
