Yay, Tricia's coming over! Come and get it. But wait, let's skip my stuff and head over to Camps instead. I'll drive. We'll take Bob with us.

I know...right? Aren't they good? We planted them because they looked cool on the package, but MAN are they good and stringless too! Someone on here said theirs were "furry" Mine look like yours, yellow and purple and good! Congrats on a beautiful mess of beans!!

Boy, so much raving about dragon's tongue beans on these forums, I guess they're a "must" experiment for next year!

Patty pan, tomboncino squash, candy onion. All from the garden. Add a little oregano, S&P, EVOO and done.
I am my gardens worst enemy.

Green beans! Yum! I only at three on the way from where I rinsed them with the hose to kitchen, so there's enough left for dinner.

We're beginning to eat a lot of veggies for just 2 people, time to start blanching and freezing some stuff. Waiting for tomatoes to come on faster though. I'm going to make soup with some of these different colored tomatoes.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Marc,
The orange ones are Jaune Flamme, the packet says its a French variety with apricot coloring. It maxes out at 4 oz. I haven't eaten it yet, the flavor is suppose to be fruity, sweet, and tart.
The yellow ones are Weissbehaarte, the packet says its an old German heirloom with 2 oz cream to pale yellow, juicy and sweet with high yields. We have eaten these and my husband raved over the sweetness and I think the taste is pretty terrific too.
Both varieties are indeterminates.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
llama momma, thanks for the info.
I was wondering if the little yellow one was blondkopfchen, an East German variety I planted very late and am trying out for the first time this year. Supposedly very productive and sweet, and about the same size as your German variety. I haven't eaten any yet. Forest fires have been suppressing the sun for weeks, but I'm hoping the plants catch up in time to produce something this year.
Hope you like the taste of those tomatoes! Let us know. My goal is to be able to put together a wildly colored plate of tomatoes for eye appeal, and I haven't gotten any orange or yellow ones yet.

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Wow, Llama Momma -- nice haul!
My results were more modest today and I forgot the photograph the Swiss chard before chopping it.
Slivered red pepper with crushed garlic in olive oil. When soft, but not done, add chopped red onion and oregano. After the onion is soft, add the Swiss chard and stir until the Swiss chard is fully wilted.
Proportions for one serving (no one else in my house eats vegetables -- more for me): 2 Tablespoons olive oil, the small red pepper – 1.5” diameter, 2 smashed garlic cloves. a slice of a large Spanish onion coarsely chopped, , teaspoon of oregano, 1 cup chopped Swiss chard

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
The big squash is 'Lebanese White Bush Marrow', the yellow one is another one of the mystery squash we've been discussing on another thread, the tomato (my first!) is 'Uralskiy Ranniy', and the broc is 'Green Sprouting Calabrese'.
Everyone else's bounty has been so...bountiful...that I'm glad I finally have somethin' that looks like somethin' to share!

Re: What are you eating from your garden today?
Picked my first mess of green beans! These are heirloom Lazy Housewife, which are a white, stringless bean. I had never tried them, but Seed Savers did not have my favorite White Half-Runners, so I thought that I would try these. Not that I am a lazy housewife, but stringless is good. Well they were very good. Cooked some potatoes with them, and had some of my newly made Bread & Butter pickles, coleslaw, and fresh sliced tomatoes. I love harvest time.

Molly, congrats on the first harvest. Please let us know how the mystery squash tastes. Also, maybe you can save seeds from it for next year.

Madge - What a nice haul of beans. How many squares are you harvesting? Is the Lazy Housewife a bush or pole bean?
