SFG's!!!!
My mom and myself teach kids 8-18 gardening classes at the county Extension office every other Saturday, we have four SFGs that the kids planted and maintain. I came up with the idea to paint them different colors, they also have colored trellis and colored tomato cages to match their SFGs.
This is a great way to not only teach the kids, but local people passing by stop in and ask about the gardens!
If you have some spare time you might want to look into maybe starting some SFG projects in your town! School, Extension, business places, and Mel has some great prizes for several contest, so be sure to check them out! http://www.melbartholomew.com/sfg-contests/

Great colors! Organic compatible?
I would love to add a splash of color to my boring boxes, but I have been diligently buying only organic compost, organic seeds, and even made my hubby return Miracle Grow enriched peat moss because it wasn't the organic sphagnum peat I wanted. Do you know of any paints/stains that are compatible with organic gardening? Perhaps some made from vegetable dye? Thanks.

I used a water base certified safe/non toxic paint. I watered the paint down and used it more like a stain on the wood just enough to give it some color.
There is many organic non toxic paints, and if you give it a google, you will find paints made from natural plants.

They look good Josh .. at first sight of the thread title I was thinking of flowers , looking like my front beds are , so I dragged a photobucket piccy over in readiness to shove up as a comparator .
Never mind ... my beds have also attracted lots of comments and questions .
