Parsnips and bulb fennel
I want to plant these two together (adjacent squares), but potato is the only root vegetable I've seen as a companion for parsnips. Has anyone done this? Also, how many fennel can I fit in a square foot?
I just joined today and am looking forward to learning more about SFG.

Re: Parsnips and bulb fennel
Glad to have you join us! There are many experienced gardeners here who are happy to share their knowledge with us beginners.
I'm afraid I don't know anything about those particular crops, but I hope my bumping this to the top will help others see you need an answer.
What else are you growing this year?

Re: Parsnips and bulb fennel
to the forums!!! Glad to have you here.
This is my first year with parsnips, i did some searching and it looked like 9 per Sqft was the avg. amount people planted. never done fennel before, but i am sure someone has and will sound off soon.
Again welcome to the forums and ask all the questions you want.

Parsnips and bulb fennel
I couldn't find anything about bulb fennel and square foot gardening, but did find that it often "didn't play well with others" so planted it straight along the back of the bed and put the parsnips (9 / sq ft) in three of the front squares. This is my experimental bed, so I'll let you know how it goes.
Thanks for the welcomes.
