Gary Gardens!
There are a few people on the forum from PA. I'm your "neighbor" in Maryland. In addition to the regular Forum, we have a Mid-Atlantic Regional Forum.
I think you will enjoy the people here - it's a great group.
Have you had the chance to read the All New Square Foot Gardening book?

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

I am not from PA, but certainly wanted to welcome you and let you know we look forward to hearing how your garden progresses.
As sfg4ukim said, this is a great group of people who love to share information and help out when possible.
If you have not yet read ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING, please get a copy and read it before you start building the beds for your garden. You might even be able to borrow the book from your local library, I promise that it is a good read and full of information on the gardening method we support.
Depending on your last frost date, you may be wanting to start seeds indoors before too long. Check out threads on last frost date and seed starting, using the search feture on the left hand side of the page.
Keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome! I'm originally from Wilkes-Barre but living in SEPA these days. I do miss my mountains and valleys though. Good luck with your garden!

Hello, I live outside Reading PA, not exactly NE PA but not too far. Started SFG last year with a total of 110 suares made from 5 boxes. Had some success and some failure. I learned a lot. Looking forward to getting better at it this year.

Hello from PA
I'm down in Bucks, County. Keep us posted as to your progress.
It always helps to hear the experiences of people in the same region. That way we share what pests are causing problems and what varieties seem to thrive where we live.
Enjoy.

Re: Hello from Northeast PA
I just joined the forum this morning. Live in Jenkintown. I have been tending to my flower and vegetable gardens for over 27years. Tried the SFG concept last year. Quite happy with the results. I just put my grids onto paper so I can start planning this year's garden.CharlesB wrote:I'm down in Bucks, County. Keep us posted as to your progress.
