What does that mean? Do you get to take them home or is it more like sponsoring where it helps pay for the banding? And where is the hummingbird festival? Good to see you haven't completely dumped us for girls and cars.
Re: Hummingbirds!
Just happened to be drinking my coffee, looking out the window at the garden today when I was visited by a hummer! He stopped and hit each of the zinnia flowers and checked out the marigolds before he took off. I had NO idea hummers liked zinnia!

Chopper here is a link to a newspaper article about the hummingbird festival, HUMMINGBIRD FESTIVAL
You don't get to keep the hummingbirds, but if you adopt one, after they band it, they let you turn it lose. Then if they catch it again, they send you info about it, where they caught it at, the condition it was in, it's weight and stuff like that. They give you an adoption paper with the band number of your hummingbird and information about it when you adopted it.
It's held at the Trail of Tears State Forest.
All donations go to the Illinois Audubon Society's land acquisition fund
- a fund earmarked for the protection of Illinois wildlife habitat.
