Oh, buttaflie:

Just take it as it comes. Relax and enjoy, see what happens whenever you do something. I know a little book learning is very helpful, but I believe experience is the best teacher. e.g. put your transplants out without checking to see if there is going to be frost that night. You will soon learn not to make that mistake, then you can go on to make other mistakes. There are an awful ot of mistakes out there.

Have fun!

My problem is finding time to read all these wonderful posts when I should be taking advantage of the sunshine we have today to get out and do something.

+1

Truly the experience helps the book reading to make more sense and be driven home to the memory. Smile

Sometimes too much information can be a BAD thing! Your garden should be a source of joy and peace, not stress and frustration. Lord knows we all have enough of THAT in our lives!

Buttaflie

Sometimes you just need to see what happens, before you try to fix it. You can't control the weather, you can't avoid all pests, but you can respond when something is not working out the way you want.

Relax a bit and try to enjoy what you have already accomplished. Your garden is lovely and here is hoping we all have a productive season.

Is there another kind of SFGing? Haha.

On the list of priorities: forget companion planting. Not enough bang for the buck in SFG although I might make myself aware of which plants hate each other...and still...

Second: compost happens. For me it is pile and forget. Eventually when I remember it again it looks pretty good.

So there are two things to let go of. Now breathe...and enjoy the fruits of your labot ASAP. flower

Buttaflie,
I just kill the pests I see, trim damaged leaves, and water almost every day. So far it's working. I have noticed if I leave the crushed bodies of the squash bug nyphs on the leaves those plants have less visitors. Twisted Evil
Take time just to sit down and enjoy the wonder of it all. Some one has a great sig. line. "It's just seeds."

It's okay, buttaflie, it could be worse... You could be a perfectionist... Very Happy

And if you're not going to worry about your SFG, well, who is? Someone has to do it.

And we all know that success is directly proportional to the amount of worry we put into it. Wink

I've got a whole lot of justifications and rationalizations. Let me know if you need any more.

I'm not so sure about success being proportional to worry. It's probably more like contemplation and planning.

In retrospect, worry is not the word of choice for SFG.

Worry = be anxious, fret, be concerned (yes), be troubled, agonize, lose sleep (never), be bothered (definitely)

Contemplate = consider, think, reflect, study, mull over, chew over, weigh up, ponder, plan, observe, examine (to all of these I say YES, without a doubt Very Happy )
