What about growing Alpine Strawberries that don't produce runners?

Cheyannarach, it turns out they do indeed produce a runner, it's just under the soil. So you may notice your plants getting bigger, when in fact what they're really doing is producing more plants! I haven't tried this yet, but I've been thinking about digging some of my strawberries up and separating them. If you don't want to do that, your only option is to buy new plants after a few years.

Really, that's crazy, I finally thought I found a winner. I bought these as an impulse buy (seeds) but think I am going to save them for next year. We'll see what happens! Thanks for the info!

I'd put them in the fridge if you don't use them this year. I've never had a strawberry seed do anything but become part of the soil!

I planted six strawberry plants in the garden with MM, and 18 on the top of a retaining wall. All 6 in the garden are dead, and the ones on the wall have taken off! SO I am no help here. I think I planted mine too deep.
