Is there any help out there for this disorder?  I wonder if anyone would be interested in doing a reality TV series on seed hoarders (e.g., http://www.aetv.com/shows/hoarders ) or setting up Seed Hoarders Anonymous?

Last winter I started some herbs from a kit which I think was purchased at Walmart. The only thing that survived for any length of time was the parsley. The container was taken outside for the summer and brought back in in the Fall. Here is what it looks like today and where it resides in a South-West facing window.

Nice. I read that parsley is difficult, so I didn't even try.  Rolling Eyes

Suz, Parsley and cilantro should be easy. I had a spring/early summer crop and a fall/winter crop. Give them a try.

I have had no problem growing them in the SFG. In fact the parsley got quite huge last year in my table top and cilantro did the same in one of my 4x4 bed the previous year.

The warmer weather is getting rid of some of the snow. Compare these photos with those posted on Feb 15 above.

The table top only has a small blob of snow left on top.

I started some spinach from seed using the "Kate Method" a couple of weeks ago.

See https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/t20284p50-problems-getting-spinach-seeds-to-sprout-try-this#260814

Here is what the transplanted germinated seedlings look like today.  As well, there is a photo of the side view of the self-watering container which is made out of two plastic containers. The upper container sits on top of the lid of the lower container. There is a layer of paper towel in the bottom of the upper container. Four wicks of paper towel go through holes in the bottom of the top container and holes in the lid of the lower container which holds the water.

This evening I finally got around to starting some Leek seeds indoors.  I sowed quite a few seeds in just one 4 inch square plastic pot.  I'll probably do another batch as a backup. I don't have much energy as I am just recovering from a couple of days of what I think is a Norovirus infection. I am literally drained.

The snow cover has gone down enough that I was able to get to one of my compost bins (the plastic bin). Took a look inside and found the contents to be frozen solid. It's going to be a while until I can restart my composting.

Sowed another container of leek and four of onion (2 Spanish White and 2 Sturon).

Here they are on the grow light shelf. I've got a digital thermometer monitoring the soil temperature in one of the pots.

Jaffa posted an overhead backyard photo and sanderson says she will do the same. So here is what mine looks like. North is at the top so the top edge of the yard is pointing North-West. Total lot area is 75 feet wide and 100 feet deep. The two story house is relatively small and therefore has a small foot print. As can be seen there is shade in the backyard (from the house) and especially in the winter time the whole area is mostly in shade. In the afternoon the backyard is sunny until the sun gets further west later in the day and then the big tree comes into play for to provide some shade. There is room for SFG expansion. I would like to do something with the frontyard which is in full sun and has way too much lawn.

Here is the front yard which has potential for more beds.  I'm thinking of a bed in front of the existing one that is at the house and following its curved shape. I would leave a grass or paver path between the two. The new bed would have path(s) in it and would be used for growing a butterfly garden as well as low growing veggies. Those heat-seeking, sun-loving veggies would sure like that location. It would not be easy to protect the produce in a neat way from local wildlife. Hard to imagine it while there is still two feet of snow covering the area. It's nice to dream but I don't expect it will happen.

That has gone through my mind.  There may be room for one in the North-East corner. Mrs TD gave me a small "portable" greenhouse for Christmas. It's still packaged up but this is what it will look like.

Indoor sowing today ... Onion Evergreen Bunching.

I also took an inventory of my containers for winter sowing and came up with 23. Now I need to decide what to put in them. Not sure if those with green colored plastic will work. There are already 5 winter sowing containers outside that were placed there a few weeks ago.

I used Google Maps to get the satellite view and then Windows 10 Snipping Tool to capture the image.  I used Windows Paint  to annotate the image.
