Home from a 5 week road trip.  3800 miles and from South Louisiana to Niagara falls.  The bad thing is we left a freshly planted garden and returned to a jungle.  We are chipping away at it but the heat and humidity is terrible.  Todays high is reported to feel like 114 cause of the humidity.  We are slowly gaining on it and I will post articles and pictures as we write them but for now its hard at reclaiming or yard and garden boxes.

Did you take any pics of your jungle before starting to tame it?

yes,a few but they are on the end of a long list and we will hafta break it up into sections.  I harvested our 4x4 garlic box rinsed the dirt off stripped them down cut roots and let them dry for a day only to find that cause of the horrid humidity they were not drying so I braided them and hung them in a closet in the house to try to dry them there.  It sure smells good and I hope the AC will keep the air dry enough for them.

Thanks kelejan, I finally got all the weeds out of our garlic box and am starting on our 4x12 veggy box.  The yard is a horrible mess and the daily rains and horrid humidity are making it slwo work but its great to be back at it again.

That is why when I go away it is outside the weed growing season.  Now you know why many Canadians are Snowbirds.

Another reason why I appreciate our four distinctive seasons and do not envy you who can garden year round.

We got a call one night hurredly threw some stuff in our lil camper and left early the next morning. One of Peggy's uncles had passed away.  This was a wonderful ole guy that we loved dearly and dedicated our book to.  We definately didn't plan this trip but once ya drive all teh way up there ya try to get as much visiting as ya can while ya there.  Now we are paying the price in our yard and garden boxes but would do it again in a heart beat.  We made it for the funeral service and took our sweet time making or way home.  Now its off to the next project the wisteria that grows o an arch over our front door almost blocked the door.  I hate to prune it too much, but I gotta cut it back some to get in and out the door.

Cappy, Welcome back.  Sounds like you made the best out of a sad situation.  Five weeks is a nice road trip.

Thanks Sanderson it was a wonderful trip.  Now the fun begins we are reclaiming our jungle.  I harvested cleaned and braided our lil 4x4 garlic bed, and freed our front door from the Wisteria tentacles.  This morning its clip a few remaining tentacles from the wisteria I cant take too much cause its blooming.  We will have to duck under it to get in the door but its worth it for the rich purple blooms.  Once that is done its own to mow the asparagus down so it can start over again I know its not the recommended method to grow them but they really ferned up over our absence.  If it would only quit raining(its our mini monsoon season) I could attempt to mow I am really hoping for that to happen soon.
