DIY Bucket Drip Irrigation?
This is one of my next projects, has anyone tried it? I'd like to try setting up a homemade bucket drip irrigation system so I can use my rain barrel water more efficiently. I'm thinking I can set up buckets in the corners of my garden and fill them each morning with rain water. the drip irrigation tubes then do all the work using gravity to feed the water through.
If I can also create a nice mosquito-proof cover, the buckets could also collect rainwater. So I'll also need a way to close the tube so water only flows from the buckets when I want it to.
I think my big huge rain barrels are too far from the garden to just run the system directly from there. And since I like my garden to be fancy and pretty, I'm also trying to find attractive containers I can repurpose for this... I would love your thoughts!

Re: DIY Bucket Drip Irrigation?
Make sure you get the correct emitters or soaker hose. Not all emitters will function properly with gravity fed systems (some require a minimum amount of water pressure).
Or, you could work something out so the plants that require the most water are closest to the buckets.
Me...I used a fountain pump and a bucket to power my drip system. It worked fairly well and filling my bucket from my rain barrel wasn't that big of a deal (If I were real handy, I could have stuck my pump in my rain barrel).
