I am just about to start a strawberry pyramid. I was wondering which way should it be facing? I live in Flordia so summers are probably going to be tough on the plants.

I think you should build a roundabout thingy so that you can turn it in whichever direction you want.

If static, then there will always be one side that needs a bit more sun and the opposite that gets too much.

That's it, Kay, a giant Lazy Susan on ball bearings.

Now I am thinking of a Table Top Giant Lazy Susan on Wheels. The ultimate!

All I need now is a level garden. Most of my land slopes.

I planted strawberries in four squares of a 4 X 4 last spring and the took over every square in the box. Looking forward to some delicious berries this spring. It faces east and buts up against a six foot wood fence on the west side. Maybe the fence gave them some shade in the summer.

Last year I had six five station planted stacking trays of strawberries on an aluminium platform set up with four three inch rubberized castors so I could do the rotating bit.

The only trouble was on the hottest two days of the year I was not here to rotate the stack , consequently they dried out & all the fruits shrivelled and fell off.

They really needed four times the soil around each plant to overcome the drying out and make for a stable moisture content .

The castors were also rather hard to get moving due to the weight of the stack ( around 240 pounds ). If I ever resort to this method again for other plants I'll fit six inch hard nylon heavy duty castors instead

This year I've started my strawbery barrel instead but could end up putting it on some really heavy duty castors ( it weighs around 700 pounds when full ) in a couple of years when I clean it out & replant it to prevent strawberry saw root fly attacks that we get here .
