Speaking of seed life
If you have seed left over from planting and are planning on offering it on the seed exchange or using it next year, you might want to either check out the average seed viability at a couple of these sites:
I like this one the best so far:

This one seems a bit too optimistic, but I know some seeds sprout after 10 years:

This one is pretty, and offers two ways to read it, and gives advice on storing seed for a long time:

This one offers a comparison chart:
