Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
I made a phone call today and bought myself a brand new stainless steel 20 inch compost thermometer from Gardens Alive. Their phone is working fine now ! My husband will be wrapping this up for me, from him. He said he never would have known I wanted one or how to get one. Isn't love grand?

I am probably not buying myself any gifts this year... and i am still trying to finish up making gifts... argh! The pressure.

Re: Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
It wouldn't be Christmas if I wasn't buying myself gifts... and that peeves the "kitchen appliance" off badly every year. She basically confiscates anything I buy for myself starting in mid October and wraps it up and puts it under the tree.. what a buzz-kill....

Re: Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
So far, I have bought myself an automatic vent opener for my yet-to-be greenhouse, and a mechanical min-max thermometer for aforementioned greenhouse. I love the old fashioned min/max ones much more than the electronic ones. (I'm soooo old!)

I haven't bought myself anything yet but added a compost thermometer and compost turner "thingy" to my amazon wish list, now to just watch the prices everyday.

Re: Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
southern gardener - google gardens alive, on the homepage put compost thermometer in the search box. You can order from there. p.s. I had an older catalog with a better price and they honored the old price.

Bought myself 2 cast iron planters and filled the top with winter hardy plants. Also 2 big bags of vermiculite for the spring expansion.

Re: Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
I bought myself a Toro (with metal impeller) blower/leaf vaccum mulcher with hoses and leaf collection kit bundle. It arrived last night after dark, so am waiting for the sun to come up. I believe I need to make much more compost, and this should help if it works well. Plus, it was on sale this time of yr. Jo

I haven't yet, but if I get for Christmas the beer brewing supplies I asked for, then I will be buying a 6 or 7 gallon stainless steel pot shortly after Christmas!

If I don't get it for Christmas, I'll be buying the SFG book. Maybe I should just order it now; I don't think Santa is paying attention.

Re: Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
I have already gotten the book. I will be slowly buying the different components for Mels Mix and hopefully a thermometer for compost. Might not be on time but it will be close enough for christmas . Its nothing to do with gardening but I wish I could get a bigger anvil for christmas... things are like $5 bucks a pound

Just taking it up. This past year was the gardening year, now this coming year I'll learn brewing. Then I'll have three hobbies: music, gardening, and brewing, and I think that'll be enough!

even if Santa does listen, I like having two copies - one to keep and one to lend! (For me, it is actually three copies - one at home, one at the restaurant, which is where I garden, and one to lend.)

Re: Are you buying yourself any Christmas presents?
I got an instant read thermometer at the restaurant supply store for $5.99. Yippee! Can't wait to try the clear plastic/black plastic/glass soil experiment in the spring.
And one of those automatic vents for my little greenhouse that I'll hopefully be able to build in January. Still need plywood. I wonder if Santa delivers?

Maybe, just maybe... I'll order a new 5 medium beehive with hope to split my current colony early next summer... Fingers crossed the current colony makes it through the winter.

I will probably wait til after Xmas as I usually get some $$$ for Xmas(DH is not very creative or into shopping). Then I will get a dehydrator and a salad spinner and wood for 2 TT beds.

I might be buying myself a ticket to see the Green Bay Packers play in the NFC Title Game in January in Lambeau Field.
Of course if they lose in the first game, then I won't be buying that ticket. LOL

Martha,
I couldn't pass it up. I really don't know when I'll have the funds to finish, but when opportunity knocks, I run to the door......
