New in Massachusetts
Hi,
I have a plot in the community garden here and after another wet, soggy spring, I decided to build raised beds. I have both of Mel's books and have used the original Square Foot technique but in raised beds at home. I had to abandon those because tree roots invaded and took over. Using the techniques in the new book, I built 8 raised beds this year filled with Mel's Mix and have used them for a successful season this year, despite all the rain and occasional flooding of the garden. In August I attended the Symposium in Baltimore and am now a Certified SFG Teacher. I plan to spread the word as much as I can in our community. A lot of details about the construction of the beds and my gardening season can be viewed at my blog, Dave's Square Foot Garden (see my profile for blog address or google it).

Welcome to the SFG forums! I'm new here too! Sounds to me like you're already knee deep in SFG! WTG!
I've been thinking about doing the symposium or at least the "home school" version of it myself once I've got a season or two under my belt. I've been convinced for a couple years that SFG is THE way to garden! Just haven't been able to yet but soon!

Carol, If you can attend a symposium in your area, I think it is well worth it. You get 3 days to meet fellow gardeners and interact with the instructors. Our teacher and local host, Kim Roman, was awesome and it was great to be able to pick her brain. She and her partner (who she met at a symposium) have created a successful SFG business in the Baltimore area. You don't get that with a CD, not to mention the crab cakes, crab balls, steamed crabs, soft shell crabs, crab soup, crab dip, .... Mmmm.
camprn, I'm located in Bolton, MA. If you drive on south on I495 you go right through Bolton, not far from the community garden. Keene is west, north and uphill all the way from Bolton. Hats off to you for successfully gardening there.
