I hope they eat lots and lots of bugs for you! We have a couple lizards who hang around ours. I hope they stay around!

You guys are lucky!!! I have had my little pond for 3 years and still no frogs,newts or anything nice.
I don't think many people now in the Uk have ponds any more. Its so sad

You guys are so lucky! It's too hot here for toads and frogs, at least away from the washes. So instead, we get geckos. I see them rustling through the squares in my plots from time to time, so I'm hoping they're finding things they like. If they ever hold still long enough, I'll snap a pic, but they're about as twitchy as a chihuahua.
I think my sunflower plant can take me in a fair fight...it's taller than me, and it keeps giving me dirty looks.

Have you tried adding in a rockery? Anything handy will do, broken bricks, broken terracotta pots, etc. It doesn't even have to be large. Frogs love a good place to hide.

Yes I have a rockery and a lovely wildlife area lots of hidey holes amongst the plants and long grass. Even built a stone hotel for them However hard I try no frogs. As I say no ponds around here. I have even thought of kidnapping a couple of frogs but that 's cruel so I haven't done it. :afraid: Did have a field mouse living init for a bit though

We do not have any ponds, but often see frogs around. I have yet to ID any of them though.

Big beetle, adults are voracious hunters, and the larva are, if anything, nastier. In an aquarium setting, the larva have been known to attack fingers, pencils, etc.

They'll become the apex predator in a small enough body of water, and will happily annihilate tadpoles!

we just seen our first frog of the summer yesterday...so cute!...we too are wanting to make a small fountian pond of water for them....

How precious! We don't have toads/frogs in our area either. But my garden has become home to MANY spiders, so I'm happy w/ that. Have also been seeing more and more parasitic wasps and ladybugs.

Here is a pic I took last week...a parasitic wasp doing its part to control a colony of oleander aphids on my Marsh Milkweed...I watched this little wasp inject it's eggs into the aphids for over 30 minutes. Between the wasps, ladybug larvae, and ladybugs, every aphid colony was wiped out in a few days.
