Hello From Daegu, South Korea
Greetings, All. I am two weeks new to Korea and have decided now I have the time to do what my heart has been ferverently desiring for years - to start my own vegetable garden! I'm a newbie and very excited. I stumbled upon the topic of square foot gardening while doing some preliminary research. I think I'm in love! I think it's too late to start a winter garden but I can't wait to get started next Spring. God bless everyone and thank God for this forum.

Very glad to have you join us. Have you read the ALL NEW SQUARE FOOT GARDENING book yet? It has some very simple instructions for preparing your SFG bed and creating your Mel's Mix, then the grids that help your detremine the spacing of your plants. It also provides info of when to start seedlings and when to transplant based on your first and last frost dates.
Again, Welcome and please keep us posted on your progress.

Howdy CarmenJoi:
If you are on or stationed at one of the U.S. Military bases you should have access to a first rate wood working shop run by MWR and staffed with expert woodworkers. When you build your beds talk with them about local rot resistance woods (don't use pressure treated wood). If you have any questions on building the boxes themselves they are the folks to go to for answers.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.

I have seen women looking at jewelry ads with a misty eye and one hand resting on the heart, and I only know what they're feeling because that's how I read the seed catalogs in January - Barbara Kingsolver - Animal, Vegetable, Miracle

CarmenJoi,
You can ask around where you live and see what others are doing in their gardens then use that info with the SFG method.
