Oh no. No Came home today to find my newest box tossed. Something got in and dug around a tomato and pepper transplant, knocking them over and it appears that they dug in an ate all of my pea and bean seeds. Whatever it was didn't bother my existing box which had been treated with Deer Scram. So obviously the stuff works. I just finished spreading it around the perimeter of both boxes and I will get started replanting later this afternoon. It sucks. Rabbits/Squirrels...something :( 675916

So sorry Buttaflie

I have deer and if I forget to treat or contain an area, they sneak in and help themselves to the garden buffet. Shocked

Hopefully the pepper and tomato will recover. They are tougher than we give them credit for sometimes. I would make sure they get replanted immediately or at least shade them right away so they don't get further stressed.

Ok. Thanks. Should I water them as soon as they are replanted?

Yes to watering immediately at transplant. Anytime you have to move a plant, it stresses, and the water seems to help, especially if the roots were partly out of the soil and drying.

At least the beans and peas are not hard to replant.

Absolutely rewater after a traumatic event like that.

I have a rogue squirrel that likes to root around for seeds in the ground. I've never seen him, but he sure gets busy after I plant a square. He's getting the better of me for now, but I'll win out in the long run......I live longer than a squirrel's grandchildren.....he'll die of old age first...lol.
