I am still in limbo trying to figure out when I am moving. If it is more than three months, I am planting. I may plant some more this month anyway and hope for the best. One of the places we might go to is more rural and we could have chickens! Of course rural means coyotes and mule deer too so it would be a whole new ball game. I see a chain link fence in my future (unless I can come up with something prettier and cheaper)

Meanwhile we seem to finally be heating up and with the drought over we can feel a little less guilty with our watering. If anyone in So Cal has a working gray water or rainwater system let us know.

Chopper,

I had a chance to see this guy speak ata small function in SoCal. Totally changed the way I thought of harvesting rainwater...much more earth/community-centric than relying solely on plain barrels, so I promote his methods whenever I can.

Here's a link to his site, and I would definitely suggest the first book. My folks just picked up some land in NorCal so I'm getting Volume 2 as soon as I finish the first book.

And is there anyone in the Southland who has not planted tomatoes yet?? Who has pictures of their gardens. I would love to see them.

Hey, just plant some stuff. You may have a harvest. If you don't plant now, you know it will work out that you will stay long enough the veggies could have matured if planted today. (awful sentence, I hope you know what I mean)

I know Furbalsom! Had I planted in Jan and Feb I could be close to harvest on some things now. As it is I will definitely be able to harvest the onions and garlic so that is great news. I figure if I put a tomato ot two in now SOMEONE will be happy to have it, even if it isn't me. Very Happy
