Hi all. I just found a recipe for homemade insecticide, and want to get some opinions about it, or hear if anyone has experience with it.

1 C boric acid (or Borax, which I actually have on hand)
1 C sugar (which, ironically, I do NOT have on hand)
1 T garlic powder

Thoughts? I don't have major bug problems yet, but I want to keep it that way. I also scored a bunch of tulle today for under $15, and will be replacing the wildlife netting here soon. Are there certain plants that I should leave un-tulled for pollination purposes? And if so, I suppose I could just remove my PVCs and drape only those plants that need it and leave the rest in the open. (?)

Thanks again for your brilliance and magnanimity.

As far as pollenation goes you can think of fruiting vegies as basicaly falling into two different types.
Some produce one flower that have both female and male parts in the same flower like peppers and tomatoes for example. These plants are pollenated mostly by wind.
Some plants produce male and female flowers, like squash, mellons, and cucs. The female flowers have very small fruits at the base and then the stem that attaches to the plant. The male flowers have only a stem. These need help transfering pollen by insects or by you.
As a side note in the tropics bats do al lot of the pollenation. I just I love you bats, but then I am kind of weird. All the best people are.
