We're supposed to get our first nice day tomorrow-- can't wait! I have big plans.
I'm having such a hard time waiting to buy tomato and pepper transplants. I keep ogling them at nurseries, but I'm holding off because as sure as I plant them before our frost date, it will frost...ugh, so hard to wait!

Agree with you completely boog I should be hardening off my young plants ready for planting out but we have had boiling hot days and frosty nights. It has rained twice this month - once for under a minute.
Yeah, excited and relieved about being able to plant out soon.

Build a hoophouse and wait for frost no more! There is a perfect video on my DIY section on my blog. It is specifically for a 4x8 SFG!

I checked out the video-- is that your hoop house? It's nice, and there are some things I wouldn't have thought about like the 2x2s stapled to the side-- good idea. I was trying to hold off on the hoop house this first year because of startup costs, and I got started late anyhow. I may build one in the fall, though, if I decide I still want to do lettuce.

That is actually the video that I found most useful in making my own hoophouse. I have 4x8's all over the place and this was the best video I found so I plastered it up there. Mine looks pretty much dead on this guys though. As far as you building one, the most expensive thing will be the plastic. You will end up getting a 4 foot x 100 foot roll of 4 mil plastic for $35 - $40. The rest is chump change, altogether I got mine installed for around $50. Good luck!
