I am so excited!!!
My husband finished my compost tumbler today and you would have thought I got a new car or something. I have been out to put things in it 3 times so i could turn it.

Personally, a compost tumbler WOULD be more exciting to me than a new car! You're talking to the crew who get excited about how many different kinds of poo we can collect. WE ARE WITH YOU!!! CONGRATS!!! Take it for a spin, or 40!

I have a barrel , timber , steel tube and an angle grinder etc. etc.still looking for ideas for a better than youtube device.

I love having a tumbler, but I have to say what I did wrong, just so you do not make the same mistake
THe first year, I only put in my kitchen cuttings etc and it got to be a terrible mush, bad smelling etc.
Until I starting putting in leaves and grass clippings and paper, it did not seem to work.
But now it seems to be fine.

I got my idea from Rob C. He posted his pics and it seemed so easy to use. It is a 55 gallon drum that you turn on casters. The frame is on 4x4's. And it seems to work well.
GWN- I started my compost in a gray tub with holes drilled all over but I couldn't turn it very well. I use both Kitchen scraps and old leaves newspapers and the such. But when we transferred that to the tumbler it smelled awful. I am hoping because i was unable to turn it properly. ANSFG book says if you turn it every day it will not take long we are about to see. Because I have a ton of patience!
