Re: I've started on the flower SFG
I planted it today
Here is the view from inside looking out
and outside looking in
It's going to be much easier now to keep the weeds out.

I love the trellis with a view too! Such a great idea. Everything looks so pretty, congrats.
I made your flower pot tower this weekend & didn't tell anyone about it. I showed it to my son after it was planted & told him I had a heck of a time getting it balanced & that it kept falling over, but I finally got it right. He studied it a few seconds & finally said "Yeah, right", but I made him actually think about it. I told my brother the same thing & he looked at it & asked if I used a stick in the center & I told him no. Then he bent over to check it out & I had to fess up that it was rebar, but I didn't lie about it not being a stick.
Keep up the good work & great ideas.

What about a SFG calendar to help raise money for the SFG Foundation?
Re: I've started on the flower SFG
If you wondered if a flower SFG would look good in your yard, and how well it would do, I have the answer, the flowers love Mel's mix and the gardens look great, and yes with the grid.
Also the flowers are easy to "move around" if you decide you need to move them or divide them.
My mom has always had a large flower garden, but it wasn't until she had me convert it into flower SFG's that we received the yard of the month award from our community.

Congrats on the Lawn of the Month award, Josh! Truly deserved. But then, you know I'm a fan - even if Boffer makes fun of me for thinking you "walk on water!" What fun you two guys are!

Re: I've started on the flower SFG
I have a new addition to the flower sfg, I call it SFG burial grounds.
It has some cacti and succulents planted in it. The grid made from stones.
I planted 2 wave petunias in this raised sfg
Look at it now
The temp has been way in the 100s for several weeks now, most gardens are dried up but the sfgs just keep on going.

Love the Burial Ground Josh!
Although after living in AZ for 13 years I can't really wrap my mind around why anyone would grow a cactus! LOL
Looks wonderful! You do great work!
Jen
PS Our Day Lilly's are green and seem to be spending time getting established in their new home....no blooms yet. Hoping for next year!

Josh, Your SFG Burial ground is pretty neat, I especially enjoyed the jackalope skull.
I love those wave petunias. I have four 24 inch pots filled with MM, with one red, white and purple wave petunia in each pot along with a bit of lobelia and sweet alyssm. They are overflowing.

Close up.

Morning Glory Tree
The morning glory tree bloomed today, they bloom in clusters and have large blooms. I grew several from seeds this year in the SFGs. They really liked Mel"s mix.
Re: I've started on the flower SFG
The flower SFGs I made last year are also growing great, and little to know weeds. My mom had me plant some divisions of some flowers she wanted to multiply and then dig them up and give them to someone, and she was very pleased with how fast they grew to a size big enough to to give away, and also how easy it was to dig them up out of the MM.
Re: I've started on the flower SFG
Nice flower gardens Josh .. It's amazing how they morph from humble beginnings into stylish mature beds.
We don't get anything like the temps you're getting and we are having so much rain it's becoming problematic with 27 flood alerts this week end alone.
Here are some of Alisons compact camera pictures of our raised flower beds .. I reckon that with real rain water your beds would be a cacophony of astounding colours.

Re: I've started on the flower SFG
Thanks ,
My MM is made of some four year old cold composted stable muck and wood pulp beddings plus self made hot composted animal manures and associated beddings .. the chicken muck in it is neat stuff no beddings .
All told it contains almost equal amounts of horse , sheep , pig , turkey , goose ,chicken , rabbit and cow muck and two extra small bales of barley straw .
The rest of the flower & veg gardens are of the same calibre
