I saw a worm in the grocery store parking lot and I came really really close to picking it up and bringing it to my garden.

It would have been a better home. That's for sure!

My kids used to do that when they were little so why can't grown-ups. The poor thing will probably fry on the pavement or get eaten by a bird. And if someone thinks you are crazy, just tell them it asked you if it could come home with you.

After someone's experience with putting a worm in their potted plant (sorry, can't remember who did it) and the plant thriving and having wonderul soil, I probably would have grabbed it for the pots on my desk!

Reminds me of many years ago when my daughter had a habit of putting worms in her pocket for safe keeping, then we realized that the baby cotton mouths were emerging into the world and had to stop her from picking up wiggly things unless they had legs, a few years later when we lived in south carolina the neihbor gal and he daughter came screaming to our house in search of a lizard hunter to remove the green lizard from their front door, my little fourth grader marched over and secured the beast for them.
