I noticed it yesterday, but it was only happening in this thread. I thought maybe it was the multiple videos posted that were doing something funny. But I looked again after you mentioned it, and everything looks normal to me at this time! Strange
Re: planting SFG potatoes
I noticed it too, and then next time I looked it was fixed, I thought you fixed it boffer

Re: planting SFG potatoes
Okay, the SFG book says one plant per square, but I watched the video, and you are planting 4 per square. I looked elsewhere, and found people growing them even closer.
Well, okay, 4 per square is better, as long as it doesn't cut down on production! And you seemed to be getting quite a bit of harvest per square...
So I planted three squares, 4 per square of some russets, reds, and purples. Wish me luck!

Wait a minute... I looked again, and the SFG book says 4/square. Okay... so my eyes were crossed or something!
Re: planting SFG potatoes
Miss M, it's a good thing you followed your intuition! See, it knew all along, 4 per square.

Josh-so you add layers of MM? If so how much? I could tell but did you add another 6inches and if so when. Sorry I'm really new to this.

Re: planting SFG potatoes
I have a bale of straw left from halloween. It is starting to fall apart and probably starting to compost some inside. Can I use that, mixed with some MM or compost to top off my potatoes as they grow? They were about 1 1/2" tall when the Frost got them Mon, but I'm hoping they will come back.

I have the 6 bales that I made last year's compost bin from - I am going to use them for my potato bed. I don't know if it is what we are 'supposed' to do, but that is what I am doing! If it doesn't work out, we will both know for next year.....
