Hello everyone!

I have just recently finished setting up my SFG. I put in three 4'x4' boxes.

I was first introduced to SFG when I was a kid. I remember watching Mel's show on PBS along with Julia Child and Bob Ross Joy of Painting when I would come home from school. I even saved up money to buy the first SFG book but never got around to growing anything. It took 25+ years, but I finally did it!

For the past 5 years that I have been living here in Texas I have had container gardens on the patio of my apartment. One year I had a decent crop of habanero peppers and tomatoes but when Hurricane Ike blew through I had to pull my containers in and my plants never did recover and I lost interest.

I am very excited about this as it was the first thing I said I was
going to do in my yard when I bought this house back in October. Wish me luck! When daylight hits, I am going to get out in the yard and take some pictures to post.

Welcome welcome!

Never too late to start, at least you still had the book. There's loads of useful information here, ask a question and people will be more than happy to give their opinions on the matter and say what's worked for them. I'm over in NC, and the weather has been very mean where I am. Warm, cold, warm, cold, warmcoldwarmcoldwarmcold, WINDY... Oi vey. Very jealous of Texans that can plant earlier than me.

Pictures, we love them.

Welcome to the forum, Pattinic.

I'm wishing you good luck as you requested, although if you follow the directions in the book you probably won't need it. Smile

Keep us posted on how your garden grows, and don't be afraid to ask questions if you need help.

I remember watching Mel's show on PBS along with Julia Child and Bob Ross Joy of Painting when I would come home from school.

Wow, I thought I was the only one that enjoyed those guys. What a blast from the past!

Glad to see you here. And, the others are right...never too late to start. Pics are great, and never be afraid to ask ANY question. The people around here climb over the top of one another to help. It's a great environment and place to learn. Welcome.
