Hi from south Texas!
I'm new to this method of gardening and am trying to soak up as much info as possible. I'm also going to try worm composting this year. This is my second attempt at gardening.
Last year I installed a raised bed in my backyard hoping to teach my kids to garden with my own gardening method: plant stuff, water, and hope something grows! Got a few tomatoes, some peppers. Not at all what I was expecting, so planning(not hoping) for better results this time around.
I've started the plants from seeds this year in small containers. I plan to use the same soil in the box from last year but am not sure about what to add. I'm looking at some organic fertilizer but don't know what else, so thats my immediate topic of research. I will also be looking at the seed or plant exchanges. Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Are there any gardeners from the Houston area on here?

Re: Hi from south Texas!
Chito, Welcome to the Square Foot Gardening Forum! There are several Texans on this forum so you will be able to get some "local" help.
Do you have a copy of All New Square Foot Gardening, 1st or 2nd Edition, by Mel Batholomew? Try book stores or gardening centers, or order a new or gently used book off Amazon or eBay.
From your introduction, it sounds like you used raised beds but maybe added dirt? SFG does not use any dirt. The book is easy reading and will explain how to get started. If you follow the instructions, you will be so surprised at how good your garden will do this year! Your kids may even want their own little boxes (max of 3' x 3' for little ones).

Houston
Chito;
I'm in Houston, out by Sugar Land. Where in Houston are you?
