Very nice !!! I like this little tool! I may be more inclined to get that green house up for plantings!!! I need something to get me out there and out of the I miss spring mindset. Ooooo, off to talk with my husband about that tiny green house.

I live in New Brunswick, Canada which is north of Maine. Is it safe to use th same guidelines as Maine or is there an online gardening calendar that covers Canada, after all its not beer and hockey all the time (allegedly)

Garden Planting Calendar, International Empty Problem with calendar - sorry to whine

Post  ander217 12/2/2010, 8:01 am

I love the idea of this calendar and I tried to use it. Personally I don't think it will be helpful to me because it is not specific enough with the growing climates. I live in the middle of the country and with this calendar I have to choose whether to go with dates that include the lower and coastal South which are much warmer than my area, or go with the Upper Midwest which includes northern areas such as Michigan and Minnesota which are much colder than my area.

In trying to use the calendar I found myself going back and forth between those two climates trying to figure out dates that would work best for me, and I finally just gave up. I can see where it would be a good tool if one easily falls into one of the climate zones, but I feel that my growing zone isn't included. Sad

The wonderful thing about this planting calendar is that is applicable to any zone, simply because you choose the frost date that applies to your region. If you check the frost date on the link provided, transpose the appropriate dates before and after and cross reference the vegetables list with a local landscaper or gardener, then you will find that the planting calendar is actually right on the money with your local climate.
