Carrots Empty Carrots

I have grown carrots in 5 out of 8 boxes and these are the weirdest. Let me state that all other boxes produced perfectly straight specimens. This is one of the boxes where I had to cut corners and use cheaper dirt so that may be the issue. I intend to improve it when it is next empty.

LOL. Two have already made it into soup - doesn't look like they will last until Halloween!
