Re: Alaska here we go
Hi Esther,
Nice to see someone from the north on here!!
I used to live in Whitehorse, Yukon Territory and when I was a teenager, we lived in a small town called Haines Junction, Yukon. We spent a lot of our vacations in Alaska so I am familiar with Haines, Skagway, Anchorage area, Kenai, Soldotna and Fairbanks. Are you near any of those?
Sure wish I had known about SFG when we lived in Whitehorse. It would have been so much easier. Our soil was so incredibly poor there.
All the best with your gardening.

Hi, Esther,
Do you have any specific questions? Cool season crops will do better - lettuce, spinach, cabbage, etc. Berries also do great as does rhubarb. Corn is very difficult. Tomatoes and peppers - I always got some. Some herbs will not overwinter but all did fine for the growing season. Chives and onions do very well.
