night protection from beetles
I was wondering if cheesecloth draped over supports at night would help protect my garden from pesky beetles and whatever else seems to like late night snacking.
Thanks,
Nette

Re: night protection from beetles
You could try, but some pests just hide in the soil and come up at their favorite feeding time. I have one bed that is covered with insect proof mesh under hoops, so it's always covered; however, a few slugs and other pests still manage to get in occasionally, I guess when I lift the cover to check the plants, or they squeeze in through any little gap...
Sometimes by covering a bed that already has a pest problem you'll actually protect the existing pest by keeping possible predators away. So I'd say try to be sure what pest you have and then make a plan... Differnt pests require different treatments.

Re: night protection from beetles
yep...I started thinking I might exacerbate the problem by trapping them inside for a stretch with insect netting.
I think I'll get me some neem oil and see how that works. So far, I see damage from aphids about a month ago but have since gotten rid of them. My scotch bonnets .....sadly, they have never recovered. They're leaves are just miserable and wrinkly.
Well, off to the garden center with me
Thanks for responding
