Oh My...what have I done to the kids???
Our favorite local nursery put everything at half off this morning. I was planning on being there when they opened but I convinced myself last minute this morning I really didn't "need" anything. My 10 year old son came charging into my room this morning in near hysterics that we weren't at the nursery and they had been open for over 30 minutes. I told my son who is a known tightwad that we really didn't 'need' anything unless he was spending his own money. He whipped $40 out of his pocket.
So without much more persuasion (cuz really it was killing me not going) all three kids and I were out of the house in 5 minutes. But here is the funny part.
My kids spent an hour and a half on their own, with their own cart and money going over every square inch of the place. They were literally like kids in a candy store and their conversations were hysterical for 6, 8 and 10 year olds reading labels and negotiating with each other. I put my foot down when the oldest wanted more vege plants. I told him there was NO MORE SPACE. They checked out all on their own while I was still looking and bought over 20 different plants that they had been longing for all year including hens and chicks, a blueberry bush, rhubarb, coleus etc.... I am not sure where it is all going since each of them have their own flower beds that are already full.
I can blame it on genetics right???????
Since I was there I got several new shrubs (Endless Summer blue hydrangea, arborvitae etc..)and trees since the vege garden is FULL.

Fabulous story! Sounds like fun and it's cheaper than camp!

I wish you'd brought along a camcorder -- I'd have loved to see and hear it.

Re: Oh My...what have I done to the kids???
I understand all too well.
My son died as an infant and I was desperately hunting for a special rose for our new rose garden. I finally found it at jungseed.com.
Well all their seeds and stuff was half off so my daughter decided she needed about $60 worth of seeds LOL.
This is after we bought all the fruit trees about 10 days ago.
We were out of room so tonight I built more boxes and we will plant her seeds tomorrow.
She's 14 with lots of challenges so I will gladly indulge her with the garden.
